"Hip Hop Is My Life"
Saideh Browne grew up when Hip-Hop was really building momentum; Kurtis Blow, Doug E. Fresh and The Get Fresh Crew were popular, Queen Latifah made the ladies proud, and Hip-Hop life in New York City was good. In 1989, Sai was forced to deal with a teenage pregnancy; through the 90's she ran a successful urban marketing firm.
After participating in Hip Hop Appreciation Week 2001 at the United Nations, Sai saw first hand the influential prowess of Hip-Hop culture and decided at that very point to use Hip-Hop as a catalyst for change in her life; politically, spiritually and socially. In August 2001, KRS-One offered Saideh the position of Executive Director of the Temple of Hip Hop; three weeks later she moved to Atlanta with KRS to record his 10th album "Spiritual Minded,” and open the global headquarters of the Temple.
After moving to Atlanta and exploring the many facets of spirituality and what it truly meant to have a peace filled life, it seemed as though she would be forced to abandon her Hip-Hop career; but through diligent prayer, research and study, she has been able to continue to bloom in the culture in which she grew up while embracing the spiritual tenets that guarantee everlasting life. Having worked with Voletta Wallace (Biggie's Mom), Afeni Shakur (Tupac's Mom) and other respected elders in the Hip-Hop community, Sai has learned that it is okay to love God and still proclaim, “I AM HIP-HOP.”
Sai has spoken at events all over the country promoting hip Hip-Hop, consciousness and spirituality for today's urban youth. Her disciplined, yet loving connection encourages those who hear her voice to simply “rock your skills.”
Sai is proud of her college degree as well as all of her honors and achievements, but her true happiness is found as a wife and loving mom to her two sons. She is a published author, a nationally recognized speaker, the Founder/Executive Director of From Hip-Hop to Heaven Ministries and Conferences, the National Vice President of Teens N Power, and is considered an expert in bridging the gap between Hip-Hop and Corporate America.
